About the project: Background and motivation for ”www.traveleast.de“
The Central and Eastern European Countries still have a partly negative image (not only) as destinations for child and youth holiday trips – or they have even no image at all. This is based on prejudice but also on still developping tourism and service infrastructure and youth structures. Missing information and impression about this region is an additional reason for the underestimation of this region with beuatiful landscapes and attractive towns.
Protected zones contain a huge variety of different landscape formations, rare species and also holiday facilities to discover the region by bike, kanoe, trekking or skiing. Historical cities and monuments – often marked as “World Cultural Heritage” – make European history lively und often reflect a traditional charme without to much modern buildings in between.
Youth exchanges with groups from Central and Eastern Europa are a great enrichment for both sides. Exchanges in the middle of nature with cheap and sometimes basic accomodation can also help that still existing differences in income and wealth do not negatively influence the direct contact too much.
We say thank you to IJAB, International Youth Service of the Federal Republic of Germany, for the support concerning the content and to the Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and for the financial support of this project.
We wish you good luck for your children and youth trips and exchanges to Central and Eastern Europe.
